Mistissini wooden bridge wins two national awards
Since its inauguration in 2014, the Mistissini Wooden Bridge has received a number of honourable mentions and awards at the provincial level. Last October, the structure won two national awards from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Canada, including an Award of Excellent for its design and construction and a first Engineering a Better Canada Award for its ability to enhance the social, economic or cultural quality of life of Canadians. The 160-metre bridge was designed and built by Stantec with wood from Les Chantiers Chibougamau, in collaboration with the Cree Nation of Mistissini.
