Québec government priotitizes employment in the forestry industry

On November 7, Luc Blanchette, the Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, stated that implementation of the new action plan for the development of woodland caribou habitat and the creation of the new northern logging limit route would have no negative impact on forestry workers in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean or in any other region of Québec. He also pointed out that, since the forestry industry currently generates over 60,000 jobs throughout Québec, the Québec government will not need to implement any additional measures to protect or maximize local economic spinoffs.
